India- Random

Hey guys.

This post is going to be pretty random. We have done a lot of different small things the last couple days. Mostly focusing on shooting video.

Sunday we went to a church service. It was very cool to see the Indians worshipping the Lord.

We also traveled in to the city to visit a Bible class that was part of the Timothy Initiative.

What is the Timothy Initiative? It is named based off of 2 Timothy 2:2 which says, “What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”  Here is what the website says….

“The Timothy Initiative has a five year goal to reach 500,000 people for Christ.

The Timothy Initiative was established with the purpose to train and equip “Timothy’s” (Pastors/Church Planters). The Timothy Initiative specifically targets those who lack the means and/or availability to receive a balanced Biblical and theological training throughout Asia and Africa. Over the next 5 years, The Timothy Initiative will train roughly 20,000 Pastors/Church Planters with the intention of starting an equal amount of Churches.”

It was actually really cool to see first hand. The pastors go through ten courses in the school. The books are printed in their own language and dialect… which is also huge!

Here are a few photos from that…

We also talked today with a man name Aaron. He had been Hindu priest for years before becoming a Christian. He is now a teacher for the Timothy Initiative program. It was so interesting to hear his story. I am looking forward to sharing the video.

He talked about how when he was working in the temple.. he knew it wasn’t real. He felt something missing. He said everything is based on tradition in Hinduism. It is so strong here in India.

In fact, when an Indian converts to Christianity, their family will most likely disown them. They kick them out of the village and in some cases they may even kill the person.

How crazy is that?

Praise God we live in a free country. Praise Him that I was born in to a home where I heard the truth from a very young age. It was certainly only by the grace of God that happened.

Baptism is a huge deal here for these reasons. When someone gets baptized… they are publicly sharing their decision to follow Christ and for them that could mean completely getting cut off from your family and everything you know! or even death!

I was thinking of little kids like these…. random ones I see on the streets each day…

They are growing up in homes where they probably won’t hear the truth. They are going to be told and taught to follow the traditions of their families. India needs to hear the truth.

Here are some photos from a temple here in town… It is hundreds of years old.. people have been worshipping different gods there for centuries!

Please pray for these people to see and hear the truth. I pray that they too will feel a hole like this man Aaron did. They will seek to find out what it is that is missing in their lives.

Talk to you soon,

Jen
